Executive Director - Entrepreneurial Startup

Description Are you an entrepreneurial leader who thrives in a startup environment? Do you enjoy assisting other businesses with your knowledge, leadership and ability to connect them to others? This position will provide oversight for the coordination and administration of a new entity providing a high level of expertise in areas of entrepreneurship, startups and commercialization. The Executive Director will develop strong relationships with partners to align efforts and leverage ecosystem partners that support food and agriculture innovation.  As the Executive Director of this new entity, your responsibilities will include:   Program Development and Leadership - 55%   Create, in consultation with partners, the structure and organization of the entity Develop and oversee activities of the partner organizations that subcontract to the entity and organizations that deliver services to the entity Design a physical document that directly addresses the responsibilities of the entity and each partner organization. Identify opportunities to conduct training and incorporate those opportunities into the overall plan of the entity Lead and ensure necessary changes based on research and analysis of issues, audiences, and trends as part of communications products and techniques.   Budget Oversight - 10% Provide oversight for work related to grants, contracts, and entity subcontractors Grant and contract oversight - supervise the Project Associate to ensure appropriate and efficient management of funds; authorize budget changes as needed. Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures for handling funds. Advise Project Associate in the administration of project budget and the project financial planning.    General Responsibilities - 15%   Day to day supervision of entity staff, including supervision of the Project Associate. Attract, lead and retain top talent within the entity budget. Consult with partner organization to establish a base plan timeline with specific weeks during which key events will occur, including training events. Coordinate subcontractor activities, assign activities, and eliminate duplication of efforts. Reach out to corporate and institutional stakeholders within New York to expand support of the entity and its work. Travel to partner organization locations to foster relationships and facilitate coordination that will lead to program success. Partner with state-wide food and agriculture leadership to strategically develop, direct, and implement entity priorities as well as develop and manage expectations from multiple stakeholders Act as liaison between entity, local government as well as community organizations to ensure the longevity and success of Entity and its partnerships Prepare and deliver information to diverse audiences and stakeholders ensuring the appropriate communication style and representation of the entity and its' objectives. Provide advice and knowledge to colleagues, partner agencies, as well as other individuals to support the accomplishment of entity objectives and compliance of its policies.   Mentorship - 20%   Mentorship and project management Required Qualifications   Master's degree with at least 7 years of experience leading an organization or equivalent combination of education and experience; Proficiency in networking and communicating with a diverse population of groups and individuals; Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at any given time, to work independently, to make decisions that can significantly impact the entity and projects; Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills; Exceptional leadership abilities; Experience in managing complex projects and priorities; keen attention to detail is critical; Proven strong organizational, time management skills; Strong computer skills required to manage spreadsheets and databases.   Preferred Qualifications:   Founded (co-founded) a startup Prior experience mentoring startups Passion for entrepreneurship and the economic development of Upstate New York. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
